It was founded in 1991 to protect the area and has now become a UNESCO World Geopark thanks to its rich flora and fauna. The animal species that you might see (or even meet) during your hike are: golden eagles, Italian hares, martens, wolves, and the Rosalia alpina beetle, or even turtles. And of course, you’ll find the Primula Palinuri, the yellow flower that is also the symbol of the park. You can reach the protected area in a 30-minute drive, and can then continue on foot or by bike. Or you could even decide to admire the area from the sea with a lovely boat trip.
